Intuition is knowing without knowing how you know. It is a hunch or a gut feeling that will keep nagging until you do something about it. It can be more accurate than analysis and it is certainly a lot faster. By developing and trusting your intuition, you can transform the way you run your business, find the simple solutions to your problems and accelerate your decision making.

Intuition – which some call a ‘gut feeling’ or a ‘hunch’ – has been discussed in philosophical and scientific circles since the 17th century, and has often been considered mystical or paranormal: a ‘sixth sense’. For the past 30 years, however, it has been the subject of intense scientific scrutiny in departments of psychology, economics and management. They have agreed, mostly, on what intuition is. It is a form of thinking that is ‘non-conscious’: you know things, but you don’t know why. It is ‘holistic’: it sees the big picture. It produces judgements that are ‘affectively charged’: connected to our feelings, rather than our analytical minds. And, most usefully for our purposes, it is quick.

Some of the most important partnerships, products and theories are born from the instinctive feeling of intuition.

The more you exercise this sixth sense that’s available to each of us, the more successful you will become. You can avert catastrophes before they arise and increase your effectiveness.

There are many signs that your intuition is talking to you. In any given situation, you can experience nagging thoughts and feelings of suspicion, anxiety, doubt, curiosity or wonder. Your body has signals like goose bumps for inspiration or a churning stomach when something is off.

The biggest indicator of an intuitive person is that the individual listens to and heeds the signs his or her intuition is giving. Intuition is what sets apart the brilliant from the average.

Everyone has the natural ability to use their Intuition to serve them in powerful ways, in life and in business. It is not a supernatural skill gifted to some but not to others. When we accept this simple yet powerful understanding, we allow our Intuitive intelligence to become active and to guide and direct us to outcomes that serve our personal and professional ‘highest good’.

Intuition in business has everything to do with knowing yourself, aligning your essential nature with what you do in your business, having integrity to know that you are doing the right thing and have your client’s best interests at heart. Following your heart and allowing your brain to carry out the actions of the heart.
